4th year professional hockey player currently with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL, NHL affiliate to the Detroit Red Wings. Former Captain of Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League. Lead Spokane Chiefs to a Memorial Cup Championship in the 2008 playoffs. Acadia University Graduate.

Brett Ponich

Owner/Head Instructor

4th year professional hockey player currently with the Columbus Blue Jackets Organization. Former Captain of the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League. Drafted 48th overall in 2009 NHL Draft.

Kevin Noble

Owner/Head Instructor

Kevin is in his fourth professional hockey season currently playing for the Tulsa Oilers Hockey Club of the ECHL. Kevin played for the Edmonton Oilers farm team in the ECHL for 2 seasons and attended their AHL farm teams camp in Oklahoma City. Kevin is a Graduate of Mercyhurst University competing in NCAA Division 1, where he captained the team during his senior season. Kevin has a degree in Sports Business Management. Kevin has been working and running hockey schools for the past 10 years.

Kiana Strand


Born and raised in Invermere, BC.

Attended Athol Murray College of Notre Dame and won a Provincial Gold.

Going into 4th year at the University of Prince Edward Island playing hockey at the CIS level, Currently Assistant Captain.

Achieved the Academic All Canadian award for academic and varsity sport success.

Tryg Strand


Local hockey player who continues to return to the Valley for summers.

Strand started his junior career for the local Jr. B Columbia Valley Rockies hockey team where he was named MVP and top scorer in his rookie year.

Following that season Tryg played 3 seasons for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in the BCHL, where he was Assistant Captain.

Won the Island division, and Captained the team in his final year, once again taking his team to the playoffs.

Secured a scholarship to play for the University of Guelph Gryphons in the CIS.

Strand helped his team this last season to an OUA Queens Cup Championship along with a Bronze medal at the CIS Nationals Tournament.

Wasyn Rice


14yr old elite female hockey player from Invermere

Played her last 2 years for the East Kootenay Female Midget Tier 1 team located in Cranbrook, and attended hockey academy at Selkirk High School.

She has been on Team BC Aboriginal the last 2 years as an underage and was Assistant Captain this year attending National Aboriginal Hockey Championships.

She made the Kootenay U16 team and competed at the BC Winter Games and was invited to the Top 40 U18 Team BC tryout camp as one of 5 underage players in BC.

She will be attending Ontario Hockey Academy in Cornwall on scholarship for the next 3 years while pursuing her hockey and academic goals.

RT Rice


20yr old accomplished hockey player from Invermere

Competed as a 15 & 16yr old to the Columbia Valley Rockies Jr. B team
Played 2 more years for the Fernie Ghostriders Jr. B team

Excelled further and played 2 years for the Estevan Bruins Jr. A team.

He played 2 years for Team BC Aboriginal and went to the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships, and was then selected as one of Canada’s top Aboriginal Midget aged male hockey players and given the opportunity to attend “Hit the Ice” a summer reality TV training program, offering professional training and a showcase where he received recognition for his talent and offered tryouts with Gatineau Olympique QMJHL. RT is continuing to pursue a professional hockey career.
